‘Indian Relay’ Screens at National Museum of the American Indian in NYC

An estimated 30 people attended a screening of the documentary Indian Relay June 1 at the National Museum of the American Indian in New York City.

Filmed between December 2010 and August 2011 in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, “Indian Relay” sheds light on the equestrian talent found in Indian Country and follows three relay teams on their journey to win the national championship.

“It was a screening of an almost finalized cut,” said Charles Dye, the film’s director and producer.

The film will broadcast nationally on PBS later this year sometime between November and December.

Dye is currently working to register Indian Relay in independent film festivals throughout the U.S. In the meantime, he has uploaded video teasers to the film’s Facebook page.

“[The relay] is one of the most positive things happening in Indian [Country] today,” Dye said. “These guys are rock stars. … It’s just incredible what these guys do.”
