Leonardo DiCaprio Film Seeks Native American Actors in Santa Fe

On Monday, June 30, casting director Rene Haynes will be in Santa Fe, NM, seeking a number of Native actors to appear in a Leonardo DiCaprio film that will shoot in western Canada this fall.

The Revenant will be directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, and is based on Michael Punke's 2002 debut novel of the same name. It is expected to see a late 2015 release.

Haynes is the leading casting director when it comes to Native talent, with an extensive resume that dates back to Dances With Wolves (1989) and includes recent projects The Twilight Saga (2009-10), Crooked Arrows (2012), Winter in the Blood (2013), and Rhymes for Young Ghouls (2013).

“THE REVENANT”, an adaptation of the Michael Punke novel, The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge the story of a 19th century fur trapper, Hugh Glass, who gets mauled by a grizzly bear. Near death, the terrain makes it impossible for his colleagues to carry him back to their fort. They leave him for dead but he survives and sets out on a treacherous journey to exactrevenge on those who betrayed him and left him for dead.

Seeking: Native American Teens – MALE – age 12 – 18 who can look age 14 – 15, with a strong character face, who spend a lot of time outdoors! Minors should have a guardian with them – or written permission from a guardian to be videotaped.

Native American Men – ages 30 – 50+ Weathered and rugged outdoors type. Strong Faces!

Native American Women – ages 30 – 40 Strong female warrior, outdoors type. Strong Faces!

Meetings will be with Casting Director, Rene Haynes. No acting experience is necessary. No need to prepare anything, just come in for the meeting and you may be interviewed on Video Tape for the director. All cast actors will be compensated at applicable SAG/AFTRA or ACTRA rates.

Transportation and Lodging will be provided.
