The Santa Fe Indian Market is less than a month away — it takes place August 23-24, with plenty of events in the days leading up to the weekend. One of the highlights is always the Live Auction Gala, which will fall on the the evening of August 23 for the 2014 market. "In spite of the ubiquity of other Native arts auctions, there is simply no other event in the Native arts world that compares," says the description at the SWAIA website. "Like the Indian Market itself, the Gala is the one time and place during the year where the world's greatest Native artwork and the most discerning collectors meet. Add the beauty, impeccable food and service from the La Fonda on the Plaza, and the glamour of Indian Market comes alive."
The auction will feature work by acclaimed artists including Gerry Quotskuyva, Vincent Kaydahzinne, Kathleen Wall, and many more. Of particular interest are two concho belts made from pieces contributed by 28 artists.
Tickets for the prestigious event are still available, at $175 per. For more information on this event and others at Indian Market, visit the Schedule of Events Page at SWAIA.org.
