The all-female a-capella group Ulali Project has just released a video of its new song, "Idle No More," a spirit-lifting stomp of a tune inspired by the political movement of the same name. The song is dedicated to the four women who organized Idle No More and was inspired by Metis/Cree actress Tantoo Cardinal.
Ulali Project is a re-formation of the trio Ulali, led once again by accomplished Tuscarora vocalist Pura Fé. Joining Pura Fé in this performance of "Idle No More," which was recorded in April at UNC-Pembroke, are Jennifer Kreisberg, Charly Lowry of Dark Water Rising and Layla Rose Locklear of Lakota John & Kin.
According to the group, a CD of new traditional music will be available in the fall. Follow Ulali at facebook.com/TapweProductionProjects to keep up on new developments and releases.
