The Haudenosaunee national lacrosse team, the Iroquois Nationals, will be holding tryouts June 15-16 for the roster that will compete at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships in Denver.
The tryouts, for men 18 or older, will be held at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. The Nationals request that those who want to tryout please be there by 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. Other tryouts will also be held, the team said on its Facebook page, with dates and times to be announced when comfirmed. More information will also be available on the Nationals website, Iroquoisnationals.org.
As the Nationals are working on building their lineup for Denver, they're also fighting to win back their justifiably rightful spot in the world tournament's elite Blue division. The Federation of International Lacrosse did not place the Nationals in the Blue for 2014 for having not competed in the 2010 tournament. But the Nationals were blocked from playing in 2010 in England when UK Customs refused to allow the team entry into the country for traveling on their Haudenosaunee passports, which are valid and official national documents. The Haudenosaunee have applead and are awaiting a FIL General Assembly vote on the matter.
