Video: Columbus Day: How Is This Still a Thing?

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver recently asked a question we’ve been asking for years—how is Columbus Day still a thing?

The comedic look at holiday celebrations in this country touches on St. Patrick’s Day, the craziness that Black Friday can bring, and how Columbus Day is full retail sales.

The video touches on what Christopher Columbus really did during his explorations and that “Columbus became famous for his discoveries, specifically the discovery that you can discover a continent with millions of people already living on it.”

The video even suggests other Italians who could be celebrated instead of Columbus, like Frank Sinatra.

Enjoy.
