American Indian Golfer Jeff Curl Qualifies for U.S. Open Golf Championship

Like father, like son. Jeff Curl, Northern Wintu tribe and son of Rod Curl, the man who beat none other than golf legend Jack Nickalus by one stroke at the 1974 Colonial National Invitational in 1974, has made the U.S. Open Golf Championship, NDNSports.com reports.

Curl qualified at the Woodmont Country Club qualifying site in Rockville, Maryland. He golfed in college for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He made his PGA Tour debut at the 2012 Puerto Rico Open, where he finished tied for 71st.

This year’s U.S. Open Golf Championship will be played at the Olympic Club, in San Francisco, from June 14-17. We’ll be rooting for Jeff.
