Dr. Ron Sheffield, a member of the Quechan Native American Tribe of Fort Yuma, Arizona, recently received the Badger Award at the The American Indian Business Leaders Conference (AIBL) in Scottsdale, Arizona in April.
Sheffield serves as President and Managing Director of Organizational Sciences and Culture, Inc., a Native American, privately held management consulting firm based in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Badger Award was presented to Dr. Sheffield in recognition of “tenacity and perseverance.” As worded on the award, “Badgers, whose tracks signify health and strength, are revered as healing animals and tenacious hunters.” Sheffield feels that the award, “Brings honor to Indigenous People and global recognition of the power gathered from the community of a tribe.” He also believes that, “At some point in history, we all come from a tribe of people. Our ancestors survived and flourished from the collaborative work of many.”
The American Indian Business Leaders (AIBL) was established in 1994 with a mission to increase the representation of American Indians and Alaska Natives in business through education and leadership opportunities. AIBL is the only American Indian non-profit organization solely dedicated to empowering business students in the United States.
