California Governor Signs Gaming Compact with Pinoleville Pomo Nation

California Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed a compact with the Pinoleville Pomo Nation to allow the Mendocino County-based tribe to develop a $50 million, 90,000-square-foot casino with up to 900 slot machines and a 72,100-square-foot hotel, reported the American Indian Report.

The compact, which supersedes one signed in 2009, designates 15 percent of the casino’s net profits go toward the community and problem gambling programs. It also lists provisions to protect employees and patrons and includes steps the tribe must take to protect the environment during construction, reported The Sacramento Bee.
