Canada: Aboriginal Storytelling Month

According to University of Saskatchewan’s Indigenous Studies Portal blog, the Aboriginal Storytelling Month is kicking off on February 1, 2011. Guests will include Jason Chamakese, award winning First Nations flutist and storyteller, and Rhonda Donas, children’s storyteller & Oceanman member.

Throughout February, First Nations & Metis storytelling events will be held in schools, libraries and community organizations across Saskatchewan. This year’s storytelling theme is based on the Saskatchewan government’s declaration of 2010 as “Year of the Metis”.
