Caught in the Act: Brown Bears Snagging Salmon

Bears have gotten lots of bad press over the past year for killing people, eating carcasses and fighting on suburban lawns. Last year they woke up early from hibernation. They have also been caught, evolutionarily at least, mating with polar bears. These animals can’t seem to catch a break.

Now there’s a live feed courtesy of a web cam installed at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park & Preserve, Alaska. We could not embed it, but that’s not a bad thing—the site is chock full of wildlife action as it happens.
