Chief Anderson Hosts Congressional Visitors

On February 6, Choctaw Indian Tribal Chief Phyliss J. Anderson welcomed Congressional representatives to the Choctaw Indian Reservation for a tour of the facilities and to discuss current tribal projects, use of federal funding awards, and the continued expanding needs of the tribe.

Congressmen Gregg Harper and Alan Nunnelee, accompanied by T.A. Hawks, chief of staff for Senator Thad Cochran, met with tribal officials and toured key areas like the Choctaw Health Center, Choctaw TechParc and the Beaver Dam Road project.

“I am happy to host Congressman Harper, Congressman Nunnelee and Mr. Hawks. Their show of support to this administration and to our tribal people is paramount to our continued success,” Anderson said in a press release. “I have made a commitment to build strong tribal-federal government-to-government relationships and restore trust in the Office of Chief. I not only appreciate their kindness but also their confidence in the work we are doing. I look forward to a healthy and productive partnership that will help move our tribe forward.”
