Chief Phyliss J. Anderson to Introduce President Obama at Conference

Phyliss J. Anderson, newly elected chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, has been selected to introduce President Barack Obama this afternoon at the 3rd Annual White House Tribal Nations Conference.

The conference, being held at the Department of the Interior, is the latest effort to improve the communication between tribal and federal governments working toward bettering Indian country as a whole.

“It is my distinct privilege to be requested by the White House to introduce the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama,” said Chief Anderson. “I am humbled and honored for thisopportunity. This is an historic moment for our Tribe, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and I look forward to speaking with federal government officials and other tribal leaders on the important issues and concerns we have as a Tribe.”
