Choctaw Casino Resort, located in Durant,Oklahoma, has been received the coveted Four Diamond Rating by the American Automobile Association (AAA). Only four percent of more than 31,000 properties approved by AAA are bestowed this honor, according to a press release from the resort.
AAA’s Diamond Rating System is the only rating system that covers all of North America. It’s known for its rigorous on-site evaluations. “AAA’s field representatives conduct unannounced visits to evaluate accommodations throughout the Americas,” the press release stated. “The Four Diamond rating is reserved for properties that are truly exceptional in all areas of service. Four Diamond accommodations must be refined, stylish and reflect a meticulous attention to detail and quality. All Four Diamond properties must feature an extensive array of amenities, offer world-class food, hospitality and excellent service.”
“The team at Choctaw Casino Resort is thrilled and honored to be awarded the AAA Four Diamond Rating,” said Janie Dillard, executive director of gaming for the Choctaw Nation. “We take great pride in consistently exceeding the expectations of our guests, and this award reflects all the hard work our staff puts in every day to make Choctaw Casino Resort a truly exceptional experience for all who visit.”
The Grand Tower was a big part of the recent upgrade to the facility. It was a part of the $300 million renovation and addition in 2010, its design featuring a diamond-shaped pattern that represents the western diamondback rattlesnake’s skin pattern, which is a sacred symbol to the Choctaw Nation. Many other aspects of the design pay homage to traditional Choctaw art.
The Grand Tower is 12 stories, with 330 rooms and luxury suites with amenities such as flat screen TVs, wireless internet, beautiful tile floors, granite countertops and spa-quality “rain” showerheads. The casino itself has 110,000 square feet of gaming space, with 4,100 slot machines, 30 poker tables and 38 table games.
The resort also features 204,000 square feet of retail outlets, a state-of-the-art fitness/wellness center, the full-service Oka Spa, and multiple indoor and outdoor pools. One of these pools is the incredible Natatorium pool, which is two separate pools — one inside an atrium and one outside with an exposed lounge area — divided by a retracting wall of glass, and the outdoor Oasis Pool, which consists of four flowing pools featuring dramatic fountains, soothing rivers and winding waterways converging to create a central swimming area for all to join in.
