“Our language is our culture and our culture is our language. Without the language we see an eroding of who we are as a people.”

In July the Native American Women’s Heath Education Resource Center sponsored the Dakota Language Immersion Program taught by Diane Merrick in Lake Andes, South Dakota. The program teaches children the Dakota language through stories and songs, they also take field trips to immerse the Native American students in their culture.
