Exhibit Explores Odawa Legacy and Struggle for Sovereignty

The Legacy of the Odawa exhibit will be on display at the Little Traverse Bay History Museum—in Center Petosky, Michigan—through September 30. The exhibit breaks the Odawa history down into decades starting in the 1900s and going through present times.

“You can’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been,” Eric Hemenway, a Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act specialist and guest curator for the exhibit, told Harbor Lights News.

In that vein, Pellston Airport is also hosting an exhibit called Odawa Warriors Journey, but it focuses on the tribe during the mid-1700s.

In an effort to connect with its community history, Harbor Light News did an extensive article on both these exhibits. To read the full article, click here.
