Historical Commission Seeks Diverse Intern

The Texas Historical Commission is offering a $5,000 stipend for an eight-week Diversity Internship in Historic Preservation. The goals of the program are to:

  • Increase the representation of all cultural and ethnic groups in historic preservation careers
  • Increase the number of historic and cultural resources associated with the state’s diverse cultural history that are identified, documented, preserved and interpreted
  • Increase the number of diverse organizations and communities involved in the historic preservation field and served by public and private preservation programs.

All applicants should be U.S. citizens of Native American, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native, African American, Hispanic/Latino heritage and should be Texas residents attending an accredited four-year college or university.

Applicants must also be at least a junior in college and have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Ideal applicants will have an interest in pursuing a career in history, preservation, architecture, landscape architecture, archaeology, downtown revitalization or heritage tourism.
