Ho-Chunk Nation Fights for Poker Tables

The Ho-Chunk Nation is battling with Wisconsin state regulators over use of electronic poker tables at its Dejope bingo hall in Madison, reported the Native Times.

The state contends the poker games are comparable to blackjack or slots, and therefore prohibited by state law. The Ho-Chunk argues the games are legal–players wager bets against one another as opposed to the house or a machine.

These electronic poker tables could potentially be considered barred from bingo halls, though not casinos. The parties will handle the dispute through binding arbitration.
