A special celebration will be held at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. today, October 6, featuring a live Lakota Pine Ridge Reservation drum and dance performance.

The museum welcomes the Crazy Horse Singers and youth dance group from the Pine Ridge Reservation (Lakota) of South Dakota, who performs the Women’s Traditional Dance, Women’s Jingle Dress Dance, the Men’s Traditional Dance and the Grass Dance in elaborate and beautiful regalia. Afterward, visitors can meet these young tribal ambassadors and learn about what life is like on the reservation.

The event, which starts at noon, is free and will be held at the Potomac Atrium, 1st level of the museum. For those who can’t attend in person, a live webcast will be available. To access, click Nmai.si.edu/calendar/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D101256217#/?i=4.
