Martin Avery Nominated to Navajo Government Development Commission

Chief Justice Herb Yazzie announced on November 30 that Martin Avery has been nominated for a two-year appointment to the Navajo Government Development Commission.

Yazzie, the Judicial Branch representative, said the Navajo Nation Council has to confirm the legislation that was introduced by Elmer P. Begay and that Avery possesses considerable experience and in-depth knowledge of the Nation’s government.

Avery is currently the staff attorney at the Ramah District Court of the Navajo Nation Judicial Branch. He has been a public defender; general counsel for Navajo Housing Authority; the executive director of the Navajo Nation Washington Office; staff attorney; assistant district attorney and more.
