Mentoring Strategies and Tactics for Minority Students

Dr. Richard Tapia presents “A Perspective on Mentoring Underrepresented Minority Students: Strategies and Tactics That Work.” He was the 1996 recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring. He also received the Lifetime Mentor Award of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Tapia currently serves as a computational and applied mathematics professor and director of the Center for Excellence and Equity in Education at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
