More Than a Grave Mix Up


In 2009, Mark Benjamin first broke the news of a scandal at Arlington National Cemetery at Benjamin recently revisited the story in an article published in March for Time Magazine.

Benjamin’s article addresses how the possibility of 1 in 10 graves among the more than 300,000 likely have the wrong headstone marker. Sometimes with the designated grave plot empty even though being marked for a military veteran, politician or the like.

“The Army has known for months that it may have a massive case of mistaken identity on its hands – but has been reluctant either to admit it or to learn exactly how widespread the burial errors are,” the article states.

One of the biggest questions Benjamin asks is if the army will ever fix the problem?
