Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) announced the appointment of Alaskan journalist Andrea Gusty as the Communications Director for Alaska on November 4.
“Andrea is going to be a tremendous help in keeping Alaskans connected to the work of my office in Washington, D.C., and vice versa,” Murkowski said. “She has been serving Alaska for years through her reporting, and her commitment to the issues facing our state will continue in her new role.”
Gusty, who is originally from Aniak, Alaska, joins Murkowski’s staff from CBS 11 News in Anchorage, where for the past six years she has worked as evening news anchor and lead investigative reporter. Gusty graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and returned home to raise awareness of Alaskan issues.
She will work out of Murkowski’s Anchorage office.
