Calling all Native musicians — if you’ve released an album between April 11, 2011 and June 1, 2012, time is running out to submit it for consideration for the 14th annual Native American Music Awards.
The deadline for submission is June 30.
This year’s awards lineup comprises 32 categories, among them Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Debut Artist and Group of the Year. From pow wow music to hip hop, if Natives make it, it’s fair game for a NAMMY (and there is also the Native Heart award, for which non-Native artists are eligible). Additionally, one award is new in 2012: Best Latin Indigenous Recording.
The celebration of what Nammy founder and CEO Ellen Bello calls “the original roots music of the Americas” will take place in November.
