Native American Student’s Art Featured at Habitat for Humanity Auction

Blair Blackman, Cherokee, recently donated a piece of her artwork to the local Habitat for Humanity’s Tool Belts and Tiaras Auction held September 10 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

According to a press release, the Sequohay Schools’ junior likes to help people and got the idea to donate her work from her art teacher.

“Blair is very artistic and she has recently poured herself into painting acrylics,” said Brandi Adair, art teacher for Sequoyah Schools. Students in her class also donated handmade jewelry, Cherokee baskets and an angel tree topper.

The money raised from the auction will go to a good cause. According to Linda Cheatham, executive director of the Tahlequah Area Habitat for Humanity, it will be used to build Habitat houses in Cherokee County.
