New York Yankees Joba Chamberlain Joins Center for Disability Services Telethon

New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, Winnebago, will be part of the 52nd Annual Center for Disability Services telethon that airs tonight at 7 p.m. from Albany, New York. The telethon will be broadcast locally on WXXA/Fox 23 (cable channel 8) live from the Holiday Inn Albany.

Chamberlain is the featured guest at the telethon, signing baseballs for fans from noon until 3 p.m. He joins a long list of New York Yankees who have supported the Center for Disability Services telethon over the years, from recently retried Jorge Posado to manager Joe Girardi.

The center has been serving tens of thousands of individuals with disabilities for more than 65 years, with the mission of helping them lead healthy and enriching lives. It has been the place to turn to for “innovative services and expert care for individuals with disabilities and chronic medical conditions in the capital region,” their website states. “We provide services to more than 15,000 individuals -newborns to seniors – and their families at 85 locations throughout 9 counties in upstate New York.”

The Center for Disability Services is truly a vital community resource, reaching out to individuals, their families and all the caregivers who help support them, not only in upstate New York, but in and 26 additional states.  Often, the care that the center is able to offer can be found nowhere else.

If you’re in the area, tune into the telethon tonight and get a sense of the wonderful work they do.
