Patricia Paul, Inuit, has been elected the next chairwoman of the Washington State Bar Association’s World Peace Through Law Section; the section focuses on international affairs. Paul will become chairwoman January 1, 2012. She is also active on other state bar committees.
Paul lives on the Swinomish Reservation with her family; her husband, Kevin Paul, is a member of the Swinomish Senate and is a well-known Coast Salish artist. As a lawyer, Paul specializes in corporate law, non-profit law, land use and Indian Law. Her interests include international indigenous law, and she is a charter member of Mediators Beyond Borders. She received her undergraduate degree from Antioch University, her law degree from Seattle University, and a certificate in governance from Harvard University.
