On December 13, the always controversial conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh made sure he was clear about his comments in regards to Massachusetts Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren, when he repeated calling her an “Indian Giver,” as reported by The Raw Story.
Limbaugh who was talking about a group of Democratic senators that recently wrote a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) hoping to delay a medical device tax that was part of President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act said, “Elizabeth Warren, for example, she gave her whole-hearted approval to Obamacare. Now, she is one of the senators that wants to take that back.
“She’s an Indian giver,” he added. But he didn’t brush by the comment, he continued to say, “Yes! I intended to say that! Elizabeth Warren, Heap Big Squaw Indian Giver!”
Warren who is no stranger to controversy, as the election season heated up this year, her opponent then Republican Senator Scott Brown brought up Warren’s alleged Native heritage. Brown would continue to call out Warren on the topic, suggesting she used the heritage angle to get her position at Harvard. Warren who went on the defense, never opened up to Native media about the issue.
But just before ballots were to be cast, members of Brown’s campaign staff we caught on video mocking Warren’s heritage by shouting “war whoops” and doing the “Tomahawk Chop.”
