Rising Star: Comanche Boy Signs With Star Boxing

Undefeated middleweight boxer Comanche Boy can now expect to have even more prestigious fights in the near future. That’s because Oklahoma’s George (Comanche Boy) Tahdooahnippah has been signed to an exclusive promotional contract by Star Boxing, a prestigious New York-based company.

Tahdooahnippah, who has Comanche and Choctaw ancestry, sports an impressive record of 30-0-1, including 22 knockouts. Yet to date only three of his fights have been televised, the last one being in 2008 in Tulsa.

The 33-year-old said his new deal with Star Boxing is a huge plus for his career.

“It’s going to help me get bigger fights and get to the next level,” he said. “This is a step in the right direction. Hopefully I’m going to keep taking steps until I get to a world championship.”

Tahdooahnippah believes most of his fights from here on in with Star Boxing will be televised events.

“I need to be more recognized,” he said.

By getting some more televised exposure, Tahdooahnippah is hoping he can become a big-ticket name and have officials from Indian-owned casinos from across the country vying to bring his bouts to their venues.

Though a date has yet to be announced, Tahdooahnippah believes his next bout will be in his home state in either August or September.

“After that I’ll probably go to the east coast or wherever Star Boxing wants to take me,” he said.

Tahdooahnippah captured the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas title last July. That victory though was also a costly one as he tore his right bicep during the bout, which required surgery.

But Tahdooahnippah has rebounded from that setback and has registered victories in both of his fights in 2012, one in February and one in April.
