2011 Warrior Challenge winners

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians’ 6th Indian Warrior Challenge

A basketball bonanza is coming back to Red Lake, Minnesota, with the 6th Annual Warrior Challenge. The games will be played at the Red Lake Humanities Center and Red Lake High School. The games are sponsored by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians and Seven Clans Casinos.

This high flying basketball tournament begins on Friday, February 17 at 6 PM at the Humanities Center, and continues Saturday beginning at 10 AM at both venues.  The games start again on Sunday, February 19, the games start at 10 AM, with the championship game expected to begin at 5 PM.

Last year 22 teams participated playing a total of 42 games.  The process is double elimination, or two losses and a team is out.  Teams from several states and Canada will be participating. Teams are playing for $15,000 in cash and prizes, with a $350 entry fee.

This all American Indian tournament features some outstanding basketball, as ballers from all over Indian Country come to vie for the $6,000 first place prize.
