Police officers were in for quite the surprise when assumed "roadkill" lept out of a man's trunk earlier this week.
During a routine patrol, Public Safety officers stopped to check on a vehicle suspiciously parked behind a motel in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While being questioned, the driver claimed that he accidentally hit a deer – assumed it was dead – placed it in his trunk, and was bringing it home to feed his family, reported local TV station WWMT.
Watch the footage from the squad car’s dash camera as the deer springs from the trunk and stumbles off into the woods:
Lt. Stacey Geik said the deer was probably stunned after the accident but that “it was very much alive. The deer ran away and was unscathed.”
