Wakulla County Historical Society Holding Genealogy Seminar

The Wakulla County Historical Society will be holding a genealogy seminar on October 20 at the Wakulla County Extension Facility, 84 Cedar Avenue, in Crawfordville, Florida. The seminar will feature two genealogy experts, Jay Collins and Melody Porter.

Collins will discuss what DNA numbers mean, a brief introduction to the basics of DNA and genealogy and how to apply DNA to genealogical research. Porter will discuss the Census and where to start looking for an ancestor using the census as a timeline. Porter will also discuss beginning genealogy and how looking for ancestors means searching for stories and figuring out what to look for and how to keep track of what you find.

The seminar is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. For more information contact the WCHS at 850-926-1110, 850-524-5334 or 24research@gmail.com.
