Warm Springs Traditional Powwow and Historic Celebration

On September 29, 2012 the Warm Springs Tribes will complete a three-day horse trail ride connecting to the footprints of their ancestors while marking the trail from the Warm Springs Reservation to the Government Camp area of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon.

The conclusion of the ride will be a highlight of the Warm Springs Tribe Cultural and Heritage Department’s annual traditional pow wow. The all-day event will be held at the Mt. Hood Skibowl, and all are welcome at this family friendly celebration.

Featured will be tribal drumming and dancing, as well as a Native American village where you can watch traditional arts and crafts performances, including historical bead working and basket weaving. Vendors will be on hand too, displaying their art.

This historic celebration will also be marked by the grand opening of the Tribes’ Mt. Hood Tribal Heritage Center as well as a traditional salmon bake dinner prepared and served by members of the Warm Springs Tribes. All events are free except for the salmon bake dinner. Tickets for the dinner are $30 per person and include fresh caught Columbia River salmon smoked over an open fire pit onsite at the event, plus seasoned corn on the cob, classic potato salad, home-baked bread and choice of beverages.
