Street art can be provocative, beautiful, inspiring. The Newtown area of Sydney, Australia, is famous for it. One example in particular stands out to visitors to Newtown: King Street’s famous I Have A Dream mural featuring Martin Luther King, the Aboriginal flag and a depiction of Mother Earth from the famous Apollo 8 photo. Locals are campaigning for the mural to be heritage listed.
Created in 1991 by Unmitigated Audacity Productions, the core members of which were New Zealand-born Canadian artist Andrew Aiken and his colleague Juilee Pryor, this is one of the last large format murals in the neighborhood. Read more about the mural here.
