Video: Riding the Rez, ‘Canyon Searching’

This edition of “Riding the Rez” follows the Kayenta, Arizona, Search and Rescue Team as we train for “canyon searching.”

We started off just outside of a place called Copper Canyon, which is about 15 miles south of Monument Valley in the Four Corners area of the United States. This canyon runs into the San Juan River arm, which leads into Lake Powell.

The canyon is known for its beautiful, towering, red sandstone walls where some hikers venture off into and can easily get lost or get caught in a flash flood. Unfortunately, this has happened to a few people. So, in the video, you’ll see the territory where we have to train and prepare for these kinds of situations.  Check it out:
